We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst – Technology Finance to join a collaborative team supporting a major technology transformation initiative. This role will serve as the primary finance partner for an assigned technology segment, taking ownership of budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, variance analysis, and business case development.
You’ll work closely with technology leaders, project managers, and business teams on a day-to-day basis, helping evaluate projects, build financial business cases, assess capital expenditures, and understand the financial impact of proposed investments. You’ll also partner with accounting and finance teams during the monthly close process.
The ideal candidate is a critical thinker and problem solver who can navigate complex projects, challenge assumptions, identify risks or inefficiencies, and recommend better solutions. You’ll be expected to understand the story behind the numbers, explain variances and financial impacts to management, and turn ambiguous business needs into actionable financial plans.
Location: Pittsburgh, PA, 100% onsite role
Length of Assignment: Contract role 10/12/26-4/1/27 *Extension is possible. *Possibility for temp to hire if the need becomes available.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM
Compensation: $40/hr.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary finance partner for assigned technology teams, providing financial guidance and support for key technology transformation initiatives.
- Manage the financial activities for an assigned technology segment and serve as the subject matter expert for its financial performance.
- Develop and evaluate business cases, including reviewing project costs, validating capital expenditures, and ensuring proposed investments align with accounting requirements.
- Support the full financial lifecycle of projects, from initial concept and business case development through budgeting, forecasting, project approval, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and maintain budgets and forecasts for assigned technology initiatives and provide explanations for significant variances and changes in financial performance.
- Analyze complex projects and business challenges, identify inefficiencies, risks, or opportunities, and recommend alternative approaches that improve financial and business outcomes.
- Partner closely with technology leaders, project managers, business teams, and accounting/finance stakeholders to ensure financial plans and project objectives remain aligned.
- Assess the financial impact of proposed projects and investments and clearly communicate how decisions may affect budgets, forecasts, and overall financial performance.
- Translate ambiguous business needs into actionable financial models, analyses, and business cases to support informed management decisions.
- Present financial findings, recommendations, project impacts, and variance explanations clearly to management and key stakeholders.
- Work independently with limited direction while managing multiple priorities, competing deadlines, and time-sensitive projects.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and proactively communicate financial issues, risks, and opportunities to business and technology leadership.
- Support the development and expansion of new data center projects, applying strong financial analysis and critical-thinking skills to complex, large-scale initiatives.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree is required. MBA is preferred.
- 3+ years of relevant experience required.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and experience.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work within tight timelines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to provide timely responses, keep management informed, and proactively address issues and priorities.
- Previous experience with Hyperion, Copilot/AI Experience, PowerPoint is preferred.
